BASES - Forging the Next Generation of Stanford Founders

Who we are

BASES has been serving the entrepreneurial community at Stanford since 1996. Whether you're new to The Farm and Silicon Valley, or you're actively looking to raise, we will do everything in our power to help.

We're here to connect you with mentors, investors, and lawyers, and get you project funding, compute credits, and community so you can meet your future co-founders.

If you're an investor or run a startup, we're here to help you too. We host regular career fairs, info sessions, office tours, and dinners. Get in touch, and we'd love to introduce you to the amazing people in BASES.

Our philosophy

Since the days of Frederick Terman and Hewlett-Packard, Stanford has been among the Meccas of the startup world. We've produced more and larger venture outcomes than any other university in America, playing arguably the most pivotal role in building Silicon Valley.

Yet in the midst of the AI supercycle, the noise floor on campus has never been so high. Half-baked ideas are pitched barely after being built, and dropping out is so far from controversial it's almost become convention.

To what end do we indulge in this startup theater? Why does Stanford feel as though all of us need to be building something on the side, regardless of our conviction, let alone the opportunity cost of living with two feet in two different places?

This isn't to say BASES is against building, far from it, but we believe our imperative is to cultivate the commitment and obsession that defines the greatest founders.

Generational companies have never been built by people with “get rich quick” mindsets, and we don't think, even with AI, that will change anytime soon.
